Regular Season Round 4: San Salvatore - Alghero 74-61

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked San Salvatore's (2-1) home victory over bottom-ranked Alghero (0-2) 74-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by San Salvatore. Alghero was better in second period 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. San Salvatore forced 20 Alghero turnovers and outrebounded them 47-21 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Latvian forward Dita Rozenberga (180-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Center Lucia Di Costanzo (185-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four San Salvatore players scored in double figures. San Salvatore's coach Fabrizio Staico used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Argentinian power forward Erica Sanchez (182-76) replied with 27 points and point guard Sara Azzellini (170-86) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Alghero. San Salvatore moved-up to fourth place in A2. Loser Alghero still closes the standings with two games lost. San Salvatore will face Carugate (#8) in Corugate in the next round. Alghero will play at home against Broni and hopes to get finally their first victory.
