Regular Season Round 4: San Pietro - Viterbo 66-47
Date: October 25, 2014
An interesting game for San Pietro (3-1) which hosted in San Pietro one of their biggest challengers Viterbo (2-2). Second ranked San Pietro had an easy win 66-47. It was a key game for the top position in A2. The game without a history. San Pietro led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 34 of its points in the paint compared to Viterbo's 14. They outrebounded Viterbo 52-23 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Croatian power forward Ivona Matic (188-86, agency: IPSA) who scored that evening 6 points and 15 rebounds and the former international forward Simona Ballardini (183-81) supported her with 13 points and 4 steals. Even 13 points and 5 rebounds by power forward Ludovica Chimenz (186-90) did not help to save the game for Viterbo. Forward Anna Romagnoli (175-92) added 10 points and 4 steals for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San Pietro keeps a position of A2 leader. Loser Viterbo dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. San Pietro will meet Salerno on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Viterbo will play against Roma SRB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
