The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Hamamatsu Phoenix defeated 7th ranked Fukuoka Rizing in Mikawa 88-76. The game was mostly controlled by Hamamatsu Phoenix. Fukuoka Rizing managed to win third quarter 17-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 25 personal fouls committed by Fukuoka Rizing helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American forward Mo Charlo (203-83, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jermaine Green (203-80, college: N.Texas, agency: Haylett Sports) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side point guard Cohey Aoki (167-80) responded with 18 points and 4 assists and American forward Greg Logins (203-88, college: Canisius) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hamamatsu Phoenix (7-1) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams. Fukuoka Rizing at the other side dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. They share the position with Oita H.Devils. Fukuoka Rizing will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Hamamatsu Phoenix will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Fukuoka Rizing at home.
