Regular Season Round 4: Cagliari A. - Alpo VR 75-65

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Cagliari A. and 6th ranked Alpo VR had identical 1-1 record. This time Cagliari A. used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Verona 75-65 on Saturday night. Alpo VR was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 22-8 charge of Cagliari A., which allowed them to win the game. They made 30-of-35 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Cagliari A. forced 24 Alpo VR turnovers. Alpo VR was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for Slovenian power forward Ana Ljubenovic (185-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Patrizia Marcello (176-76) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists (made all of her ten free throws !!!) for the winners. Four Cagliari A. players scored in double figures. Guard Giulia Monica (169-87) replied with 17 points and swingman Marina Fumagalli (175-93) added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Alpo VR. Alpo VR's coach Nicola Soave let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cagliari A. (2-1) moved-up to third place in A2. Newly promoted Alpo VR keeps the sixth position with two games lost. Cagliari A. will face league's second-placed Team Crema on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Alpo VR will play against the league's leader Ferrara and hope to win that game.
