Regular Season Round 5: Pyrinto - HyPo 89-77

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tampere. Third ranked Pyrinto faced 3rd placed HyPo. Host Pyrinto (2-3) defeated guests from Hyvinkaa (2-2) 89-77. The game was mostly controlled by Pyrinto. HyPo was better in third quarter 21-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pyrinto forced 21 HyPo turnovers. American forward Jessica Schroll (180-91, college: Cent.Michigan) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. The former international point guard Meral Bedretdin (174-93) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Four Pyrinto players scored in double figures. The former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier, agency: Regeneracom Sports) answered with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Kaisa Hook (173-81) added 18 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for HyPo. Despite that victory Pyrinto went down to sixth position due to points difference, which they share with Honka and ViVe. HyPo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with TuRi. Pyrinto will play against bottom-ranked Aanekosken (#10) in Aanekoski in the next round. HyPo will play on the road against TuRi (#5) in Turku and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
