Regular Season Round 2: Dandenong R. - Sydney UF 78-81

Important game to mention about took place in Dandenong. Sydney Uni Flames (2-0) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging Dandenong Rangers (1-2) 81-78 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Dandenong Rangers won fourth quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sydney Uni Flames players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Katie-Rae Ebzery (177-90) chipped in 24 points during the contest. Four Sydney Uni Flames players scored in double figures. American guard Cappie Pondexter (175-83, college: Rutgers) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international Kathleen Macleod (167-86) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Sydney Uni Flames will play against Adelaide Lightning at home in the next round. Dandenong Rangers will play against Canberra Capitals and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
