Regular Season Round 6: Vichy - St Vallier 81-70

Very expected game when 12th ranked Saint Vallier (2-4) was defeated on the road by third ranked JA Vichy (5-1) 81-70. It looked good early as Saint Vallier took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then JA Vichy had a 28-16 second period charge getting the lead and Saint Vallier was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-81. JA Vichy forced 20 Saint Vallier turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American swingman Jason Williams (198-83, college: UTEP) who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Octavio Da Silveira (204-89) contributed with 18 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. American power forward Kurt Cunningham (205-87, college: Boise St.) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and power forward Harry Disy (200-84, college: Louisiana Tech) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Saint Vallier. JA Vichy have a solid three-game winning streak. They used an opportunity after St Chamond lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Saint Vallier at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with four games lost. JA Vichy's next round opponent will be Sorgues BC (#12) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Saint Vallier will play against Rueil and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
