Regular Season Round 3: Hawks - Breakers 77-79

Date: October 26, 2014
The most exciting game of round 3 in the NBL took place in Gwynneville. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of Wollongong Hawks (1-5) to New Zealand Breakers (3-2) 79-77 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Wollongong Hawks trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 26-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 77-79 at the end of the game. It was a good game for New Zealand guard Corey Webster (188-88, college: Lambuth, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) contributed with 14 points and 5 assists for the winners. American point guard Jahii Carson (178-92, college: Arizona St.) answered with 24 points and 6 rebounds and the former international center Luke Nevill (218-86, college: Utah) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Wollongong Hawks. Wollongong Hawks' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. New Zealand Breakers are looking forward to face Adelaide 36ers in Findon in the next round. Wollongong Hawks will play on the road against United (#7) in Melbourne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
