Regular Season Round 10: Jefes - Halc.Rojos 80-100

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Halcones Rojos (7-2) crushed on the road 9th ranked Jefes (4-6) 100-80 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones Rojos. Jefes was better in second period 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Halcones Rojos dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Jefes' 40. They outrebounded Jefes 36-21 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Larry Owens (201-83, college: ORU, agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 7 rebounds. International guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming) contributed with 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Dan Jennings (206-90, college: Long Beach St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Ray Gallegos (188-90, college: Nebraska) added 24 points and 5 assists in the effort for Jefes. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Halcones Rojos have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Jefes lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the ninth position with six games lost. Halcones Rojos will face Huracanes (#7) in Tampico in the next round where they are favorite. Jefes will play on the road against Gigantes in Toluca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
