Regular Season Round 4: Maccabi Haifa - Hapoel T-A 82-58
Date: October 26, 2014
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Tel-Aviv had identical 1-2 record. This time Maccabi Haifa used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Tel-Aviv 82-58 on Sunday night. The game without a history. Maccabi Haifa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Maccabi Haifa forced 21 Hapoel Tel-Aviv turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Maccabi Haifa made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Demontez Stitt (187-89, college: Clemson) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and the other American import power forward Jeff Allen (201-87, college: Virginia Tech) who added 12 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Five Maccabi Haifa players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds and American Rion Brown (198-91, college: Miami, FL) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Maccabi Haifa went down to sixth position due to points difference, which they share with Galil Gilboa. Loser Hapoel Tel-Aviv dropped to the eighth place with three games lost. Maccabi Haifa will face higher ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona in Nes Ziyona in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play at home against Galil Gilboa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
