There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Manital Torino (1-2) edged on the road higher ranked Casalpusterlengo (2-2) 77-74 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Casalpusterlengo won third quarter 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Manital Torino made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Casalpusterlengo was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American Ronald Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points and 6 rebounds. The former international point guard Jacopo Giachetti (190-83) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Cuban Howard Sant-Roos (200-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Marco Spissu (183-95) added 14 points in the effort for Casalpusterlengo. Four Casalpusterlengo players scored in double figures. Manital Torino left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place. Newly promoted Casalpusterlengo keeps the seventh position with two games lost. Manital Torino will face Forli at home in the next round.
