Regular Season Round 3: Granarolo BO - JuveCaserta 79-73

Not a big story in a game in Bologna where Juvecaserta (0-3) was defeated by Granarolo BO (2-1) 79-73 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Juvecaserta trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 28-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-79 at the end of the game. Juvecaserta was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Valerio Mazzola (205-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American guard Allan Ray (188-84, college: Villanova) helped adding 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Granarolo BO players scored in double figures. Granarolo BO's coach Giorgio Valli used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) with 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and the other American import Richard Howell (203-90, college: N.Carolina St.) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Granarolo BO will face AV Cantu on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Juvecaserta will play against Tuscany Pistoia and hopes to get finally their first victory.
