Regular Season Round 4: Gipuzkoa - FC Barcelona 43-57
Date: October 26, 2014
Bottom-ranked Gipuzkoa is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to top-ranked Regal FC Barcelona (4-0) 57-43 on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Regal FC Barcelona. Gipuzkoa was better in third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gipuzkoa to just 4 points in first quarter and to 10 points in first half. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Regal FC Barcelona made 11 blocks. It was a very good performance for Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who helped to win the game recording 10 points and 8 rebounds. Czech point guard Tomas Satoransky (201-91) contributed with 9 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Daniel Diez (203-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Gipuzkoa. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Regal FC Barcelona have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Real Madrid and Unicaja. Loser Gipuzkoa still closes the standings with four games lost. Regal FC Barcelona will face FIATC Joventut in Badalona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gipuzkoa will play on the road against Unicaja Malaga and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
