There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Mantovana (2-3) edged higher ranked FCM Ferentino (2-3) in Mirandola 90-87 on Sunday. FCM Ferentino trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 26-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 87-90 at the end of the game. Mantovana shot 62.5 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Mantovana especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by FCM Ferentino's players. American power forward Johndre Jefferson (207-88, college: S.Carolina, agency: Three Eye Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). International Riccardo Moraschini (191-91) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Omar Thomas (196-82, college: UTEP) answered with 27 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Cameroonian center Paul Biligha (200-90, agency: Players Group) added 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for FCM Ferentino. Four Mantovana and five FCM Ferentino players scored in double figures. Mantovana moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated FCM Ferentino. Mantovana will face league's leader Tezenis VE in Verona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
