Bottom-ranked Saitama Broncos (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 103-50 loss to sixth ranked Sendai 89ers (5-3) in Sendai on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Sendai 89ers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama Broncos' 38 and made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Sendai 89ers forced 20 Saitama Broncos turnovers and outrebounded them 49-26 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Saitama Broncos were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: KMG Sports Management) who scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Five Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. American forward Gary Johnson (198-91, college: Albany) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and forward Yuki Nobuhira (190-87) added 10 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sendai 89ers maintains sixth position with 5-3 record. Loser Saitama Broncos still closes the standings with eight games lost. Sendai 89ers will face Fukushima (#10) on the road in the next round. Saitama Broncos will play against Shinshu BW in Nagano and look forward to get finally their first victory.
