Regular Season Round 8: Osaka Evessa - Shimane SM 73-70

Bottom-ranked Shimane Magic (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 73-70 loss to fifth ranked Osaka Evessa (4-4) in Osaka. Shimane Magic cut a 13-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. They made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American forward Joshua Dollard (203-86, college: USC Aiken) who scored that evening 24 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import center Jonathan Kreft (213-86, college: Florida St.) supported him with 20 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). Even 25 points and 5 assists by American guard Joe Chapman (193-84, college: Marquette, agency: I.D.S. Law) did not help to save the game for Shimane Magic. Tatsuhiro Yokoo (186-85) added 17 points for the guests. Shimane Magic's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Osaka Evessa have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 4-4 record. Shimane Magic at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Osaka Evessa's next round opponent will be Takamatsu FA (#6) on the road. Shimane Magic will play against the league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
