Regular Season Round 8: Oita H.Devils - Takamatsu FA 67-81

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Takamatsu FA and 8th ranked Oita Heat Devils had identical 2-5 record. But Oita Heat Devils were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Takamatsu 81-67 on Sunday night. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-67. Takamatsu FA looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St., agency: I.D.S. Law) who scored 23 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Andrais Thornton (203-85, college: NW Missouri St.) chipped in 13 points. Takamatsu FA's coach Kenzo Maeda allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Kellen Thornton (201-88, college: Tennessee St., agency: David Lee services) produced 21 points and 8 rebounds and guard Demetri McCamey (191-89, college: Illinois) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Takamatsu FA (3-5) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Yokohama BC and Tokyo Cinq R. Loser Oita Heat Devils keep the eighth position with six games lost. Takamatsu FA will face higher ranked Osaka Evessa (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Oita Heat Devils will play against Shiga L-Stars and hope to win that game.
