Regular Season Round 4: Panathinaikos - Anagenisi 71-61
Date: October 26, 2014
There was no surprise in Athens where 6th ranked Anagenisi (1-3) was defeated by top-ranked Panathinaikos (4-0) 71-61. Panathinaikos players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by American power forward Monique Oliver (188-91, college: Rutgers) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 19 rebounds and naturalized American guard Niki Avery (168-86, college: E.Kentucky) supported her with 19 points. Even a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds by the former international center Fedra Skiadopoulou (192-90) did not help to save the game for Anagenisi. Maria Papavasileiou (178-94) added 17 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Anagenisi's coach Giannis Kafantaris rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Panathinaikos have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with AE Ellinikou. Anagenisi lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Panathinaikos' next round opponent will be Proteas in Voula, which may be the game of the day. Anagenisi will play at home against Athinaikos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
