Regular Season Round 5: ToPo - Pyrinto 86-56

The game between third ranked Pyrinto (2-3) and fourth ranked Torpan Pojat (3-2) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Pyrinto was crushed by Torpan Pojat in Helsinki 86-56. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pyrinto. Torpan Pojat held Pyrinto to an opponent 23.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.5 percent accuracy of the winners and made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Niina Laaksonen (185-85) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. International swingman Heta Korpivaara (186-84, college: Seton Hall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. Forward Hanna Hurskainen (180-89) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Jessica Schroll (180-91, college: Cent.Michigan) added 9 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. Pyrinto's coach Ilpo Rantanen gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Torpan Pojat moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Pyrinto dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Honka and ViVe. Torpan Pojat are looking forward to face Tapiolan Honka (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Pyrinto will play against Aanekosken in Aanekoski and is hoping to win this game.
