A very interesting game took place in Petah Tikva. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of ASA Jerusalem (0-2) to Hap.Petah Tikva (1-1) 87-84 on Monday evening. ASA Jerusalem was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 22-17 third quarter run of Hap.Petah Tikva. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Nigerian forward Atonye Nyingifa (180-90, college: UCLA, agency: Regeneracom Sports) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and American guard Keena Mays (170, college: SMU) supported her with 19 points and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 17 points and 16 rebounds by American center Marie Malone (191-89, college: Hofstra) did not help to save the game for ASA Jerusalem. Her fellow American import guard Daisy Feder (175-89, college: Cal-San Diego) added 20 points and 6 assists for the guests. Five ASA Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Hap.Petah Tikva's next round opponent will be Bnot Hertzeliya (#4) on the road. ASA Jerusalem will play against Maccabi Ashdod and hope to win that game.
