Regular Season Round 4: Angers - Tarbes 71-63

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Tarbes (2-2) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Angers (2-2) 71-63 on Thursday. Tarbes trailed by 15 points at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 26-15 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 63-71 at the end of the game. Strangely Tarbes outrebounded Angers 46-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Tarbes' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Rebecca Tobin (195-88, college: Arizona St.) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and Canadian forward Lizanne Murphy (185-84, college: Hofstra) who added 18 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side Ukrainian center Valeriya Berezhynska (193-86, college: Rice, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and American center Alicia DeVaughn (193-91, college: Maryland, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Angers moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Tarbes. Angers will meet Toulouse on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Tarbes will play against the league's second-placed Lattes Montpellier and hope to secure a win.
