Regular Season Round 4: Arras - Lyon 93-70
Date: October 30, 2014
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both Arras and Lyon had identical 1-2 record. This time Arras used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Lyon 93-70 on Thursday night. The game was mostly controlled by Arras. Lyon managed to win second period 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Arras looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Lyon's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Maggie Lucas (178-91, college: Penn St.) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!) and Canadian forward Michelle Plouffe (193-92, college: Utah) who added 19 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side point guard Bintou Dieme (164-84) responded with 14 points and guard Sara Chevaugeon (176-93) scored 16 points. Lyon's coach Marina Maljkovic already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Arras (2-2) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Lyon dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. They share it with Union Hainaut and Toulouse. Arras will meet bottom-ranked COB Calais on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lyon will play against Nantes Reze and hope to win that game.
