Regular Season Round 9: Gunma - Niigata Albirex 68-73

Bottom-ranked Gunma is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to fifth ranked Niigata Albirex (7-2) 73-68 on Saturday evening. Gunma was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Gunma 44-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American center Patrick Sullivan (206-88, college: SE Louisiana, agency: Two Points) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex's coach Fujitaka Hiraoka used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Yosuke Sugawara (187-83) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gunma. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Niigata Albirex. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Okinawa GK and Akita NH. Gunma lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round.
