Regular Season Round 4: Monaco - Lille 71-69
Date: November 1, 2014
Very expected game when 13th ranked Lille Metropole (1-3) was edged on the road by top-ranked Monaco (3-0) 71-69 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 17-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Central African point guard Michael Mokongo (180-86) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 4 assists and American-Nigerian Derrick Obasohan (199-81, college: Texas Arlington, agency: Beo Basket) who added 17 points during the contest. Monaco's coach Savo Vucevic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward James Mathis (200-84, college: Niagara, agency: Court Side) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Monaco have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Boulazac. Loser Lille Metropole keeps the thirteenth place with three games lost. Monaco will face Chorale de Roanne on the road in the next round. Lille Metropole will play against Denain Voltaire and hope to win that game.
