Regular Season Round 10: Penarol - Obras 86-76

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Obras (7-3) in Mar del Plata on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Penarol (7-4) 86-76. The game was mostly controlled by Penarol. Obras managed to win fourth quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Obras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Leonardo Gutierrez (200-78) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Martin Leiva (211-80) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Penarol's coach Fernando Rivero used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains third position with 7-4 record having just -1 point less than leader Regatas C. Obras at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. They share the position with Quilmes MP. Penarol are looking forward to face Wuber-Est.Bahia (#4) in Bahia Blanca in the next round. Obras will play on the road against the league's second-placed Quilmes MP in Mar del Plata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
