There was a surprise in Santoago de Comp where ninth ranked CB Canarias (3-2) smashed 6th ranked Blusens Monbus (3-2) 82-63 on Sunday. CB Canarias made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. CB Canarias outrebounded Blusens Monbus 39-22 including a 35-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international swingman Saul Blanco (196-85) stepped up and scored 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Argentinian-Italian point guard Nicolas Richotti (184-86) chipped in 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. Czech Pavel Pumprla (198-86) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Francisco Cardenas (176-90) scored 12 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. CB Canarias moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Blusens Monbus. CB Canarias will face higher ranked Regal FC Barcelona (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Blusens Monbus will play against Valencia Basket and hope to win that game.
