Bottom-ranked Tsukuba R. (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 89-59 loss to fifth ranked Toshiba Thunders (3-3) in Kanagawa. The game without a history. Toshiba Thunders led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Tsukuba R.'s 20 and made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Toshiba Thunders forced 19 Tsukuba R. turnovers and had a 28-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) supported him with 21 points and 4 assists. Even 20 points by the former international guard Yusuke Okada (185-84) did not help to save the game for Tsukuba R.. American power forward Justin Reynolds (206-88, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 7 points and 12 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Hiroshima D. Tsukuba R. at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Toshiba Thunders' next round opponent will be Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro. Tsukuba R. will play at home against the league's leader Hitachi Sunrockers and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
