Regular Season Round 8: Wakayama T. - Hyogo S. 65-72

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when one of their biggest challengers Wakayama T. (3-5) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Hyogo S. (3-5) 72-65. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-11. But Wakayama T. won second period 22-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Hyogo S. won last quarter 21-15. The winners were led by forward Shinnosuke Negoro (195-87) who scored that evening 24 points and 7 rebounds and American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) supported him with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Hyogo S.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) did not help to save the game for Wakayama T.. Guard Yuu Abe (180-84) added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Hyogo S. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Wakayama T. Wakayama T. lost fifth consecutive game. Hyogo S.'s next round opponent will be league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and it may be the game of the week. Wakayama T. will play at home against Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
