Bottom-ranked Juvecaserta (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 63-59 loss to eleventh ranked Tuscany Pistoia (2-2) in Caserta. It looked good early as Juvecaserta took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tuscany Pistoia had a 20-11 second period charge getting the lead and Juvecaserta was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-63. Tuscany Pistoia shot 20 for 27 from the free-throw line, while Juvecaserta only scored four points from the stripe. The winners were led by naturalized Argentinian point guard Ariel Filloy (189-87, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 14 points and American power forward Linton Johnson (203-80, college: Tulane) supported him with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Even 26 points and 5 rebounds by American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) did not help to save the game for Juvecaserta. His fellow American import Richard Howell (203-90, college: N.Carolina St.) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Tuscany Pistoia moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 5 other teams. Juvecaserta at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Tuscany Pistoia's next round opponent will be Granarolo BO (#12) in Bologna where they are favorite. Juvecaserta will play at home against Vanoli Cremona and hopes to get finally their first victory.
