Regular Season Round 8: Chiba Jets - Toyota Alvark 69-94

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Chiba. Third ranked Toyota Alvark faced 4th ranked Chiba Jets. Guests from Tokyo (6-2) smashed host Chiba Jets (4-4) 94-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chiba Jets. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Chiba Jets managed to win third quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toyota Alvark dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Chiba Jets' 34. They outrebounded Chiba Jets 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and international power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) added 18 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark moved-up to second place, which they share with Tochigi Brex. Chiba Jets at the other side keep the fourth position with four games lost. Toyota Alvark is looking forward to face league's second-placed Tochigi Brex at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chiba Jets will play against Wakayama T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
