Regular Season Round 5: AZS UMCS - Widzew 70-53

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked AZS UMCS's (2-2) home victory over 9th ranked Widzew (1-4) in Lublin 70-53. The game without a history. AZS UMCS led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was forward Chelsea Poppens (188-91, college: Iowa St.) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Dara Taylor (173-91, college: Penn St.) chipped in 18 points, 7 assists and 6 steals. Power forward Sarah Boothe (195-90, college: Stanford) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and point guard Adrianne Ross (173-84, college: TCU, agency: Merit Management Group) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Widzew's coach tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. AZS UMCS moved-up to sixth place. Widzew at the other side dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. AZS UMCS's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Wisla Krakow on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Widzew will play against AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (#4) in Gorzow Wlkp. and hope to win that game.
