Bottom-ranked Basket Groot (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 71-69 loss to seventh ranked Liege (3-2) in Willebroek. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. It was a good game for the former international Emmanuella Mayombo (170-92, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center Caroline Bourlioux (182-92, college: Lindenwood) contributed with 10 points for the winners. Forward Inge Op De Beeck (177-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Eveline Decroos (182-84) added 17 points in the effort for Basket Groot. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Liege have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sint Katelijne and Waregem. Basket Groot at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with CEP Fleurus. Liege will play against league's leader Castors Braine at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Basket Groot will play against Jeugd Gentson (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
