Regular Season Round 4: AEK Athens - Olympiacos 62-81
Date: November 3, 2014
Another interesting game was Olympiacos against AEK Athens. AEK Athens was smashed at home by 19 points 62-81 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It looked good early as AEK Athens took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Olympiacos had a 30-15 second period charge getting the lead and AEK Athens was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-81. Olympiacos forced 21 AEK Athens turnovers. The winners were led by international Vassilis Spanoulis (193-82, agency: Beo Basket) who scored that evening 22 points and 5 assists and American power forward Brent Petway (205-85, college: Michigan) supported him with 8 points and 6 rebounds. Even 15 points by naturalized Serbian Dusan Sakota (210-86, agency: Beo Basket) did not help to save the game for AEK Athens. Forward Leonidas Kaselakis (202-90) added 10 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Olympiacos (3-1) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with AGOR and Nea Kifisia. Newly promoted AEK Athens keeps the ninth position with three games lost. Olympiacos' next round opponent will be Aiolos Trikallon at home. AEK Athens will play against Panelefsiniakos in Eleusina and hope to win that game.
