Regular Season Round 1: Liga Sorocaba - Macae 96-73

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Macae (0-1) in Sorocabana on Wednesday night. Visitors were rolled over by Liga Sorocaba (1-0) 96-73. The game was mostly controlled by Liga Sorocaba. Macae managed to win fourth quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Liga Sorocaba shot 61.7 percent from the field. They also forced 22 Macae turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Liga Sorocaba especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. American forward Tarvin Gaines (198-91, college: Jacksonville St.) fired 20 points for the winners. The former international center Guilherme Hubner (208-87) chipped in 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Liga Sorocaba players scored in double figures. American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) produced 18 points and forward Fernando Alvim (201-80) added 16 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Liga Sorocaba is looking forward to face Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Macae will play on the road against Paulistano in Sao Paolo and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
