Regular Season Round 6: Valur - Haukar 84-85

The most exciting game of round 6 in the Dominos League took place in Reykjavik. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 5th ranked Valur (3-3) to second ranked Haukar (5-1) 85-84 on Wednesday evening. Haukar had a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) who saved her team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 25 rebounds. Sylvia Run Halfdanardottir (-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Harden Joanna replied with 35 points (!!!) and guard Gudbjorg Sverrisdottir (180-92) added 24 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Valur. Haukar have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Keflavik and Snaefell. Valur at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Grindavik. Haukar is looking forward to face bottom-ranked KR in Reykjavik in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valur will play on the road against Grindavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
