Regular Season Round 6: Snaefell - Hamar 76-39

Date: November 5, 2014
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Snaefell (5-1) crushed 7th ranked Hamar (1-5) in Stykkisholmur 76-39 on Wednesday. Snaefell dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Hamar's 24. Snaefell forced 19 Hamar turnovers and outrebounded them 63-28 including a 26-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international guard Hildur Sigurdardottir (178-81) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and American swingman Kristen McCarthy (182-90, college: Temple) supported her with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Even 13 points and 5 assists by forward Thorunn Bjarnadottir (171-80) did not help to save the game for Hamar. American power forward Andrina Rendon (180, college: Hope International) added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Keflavik and Haukar. Loser Hamar dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with KR and Breidablik. Snaefell will meet Breidablik in the next round where they are favorite. Hamar will play against the league's leader Keflavik and hope to win that game.
