Regular Season Round 5: KR - Grindavik 118-73

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked KR as it allowed them to take a leadership position. KR smashed 9th ranked Grindavik in Reykjavik 118-73. The game without a history. KR led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. KR outrebounded Grindavik 55-34 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 39 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Grindavik's players. KR brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The former international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87) nailed a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds, 17 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and American forward Michael Craion (195-89, college: ORU) accounted for 27 points and 18 rebounds. Five KR players scored in double figures. International guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Omar Saevarsson (198-82) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Grindavik in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. KR (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Grindavik at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with Njardvik and Thor Thorl. Grindavik will play next round against Njardvik trying to get back on the winning streak. KR will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Snaefell at Stykkisholmur.
