Regular Season Round 13: Huracanes - Pioneros 92-93

Important game to mention about took place in Tampico. Fifth ranked Pioneros (9-4) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Huracanes (7-4) 93-92 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Huracanes. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-15. But Huracanes won second period 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pioneros dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Huracanes' 38. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) contributed with 20 points and 8 assists for the winners. Nigerian-American power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) added 24 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Huracanes. Five Huracanes players scored in double figures. Pioneros have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Halc.Xalapa. Huracanes at the other side keep the fifth position with four games lost. Pioneros will play against Correcaminos (#7) in Ciudad Victoria in the next round. Huracanes will play at home against Gansos and hope to get back on the winning track.
