Regular Season Round 5: Stjarnan - Haukar 93-85

There was a change at the Dominos League leadership position after last games. Round 5 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Haukar (4-1). They were defeated by fourth ranked Stjarnan (3-2) 93-85 on Thursday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Haukar. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-20. But Haukar won second period 20-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Stjarnan won last quarter 25-18. American forward Jarrid Frye (196-85, college: Sacred Heart) stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Agust Angantysson (198-85) chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds. Four Stjarnan players scored in double figures. American forward Alex Francis (198-91, college: Bryant, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Emil Barja (192-91) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Stjarnan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 3-2 record, which they share with Keflavik and Snaefell. Haukar at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Tindastoll. They were replaced at the leadership position by KR. Haukar will play next round against Thor Thorl trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Stjarnan will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Skallagrimur in Borgarnes.
