Regular Season Round 9: Pardaguava - Ridzene 66-71

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Riga: Ridzene (#8) and Pardaguava (#4). Pardaguava was defeated at home 66-71 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 24-18 Pardaguava's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 71-66 at the end of the game. Ridzene made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Ridzene outrebounded Pardaguava 46-28 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pardaguava was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Arvis Blumbergs (200-95) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Elvijs Miculis (200-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Ridzene players scored in double figures. Forward Linards Jaunzems (198-95) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Karlis Vecens (185-95) added 14 points, 5 assists and 5 steals in the effort for Pardaguava. Pardaguava's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Ridzene maintains eighth place with 1-5 record. Pardaguava at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Ridzene's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Riga to the arena RSU.
