Regular Season Round 3: Shanghai S. - Guangsha L. 87-91

Not a big story in a game when Shanghai Sharks (0-3) were defeated at home by Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (3-0) 91-87. Shanghai Sharks were ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 31-13 third quarter run of Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. They made 28-of-34 charity shots (82.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 32 Shanghai Sharks turnovers. Strangely Shanghai Sharks outrebounded Zhejiang Guangsha Lions 46-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. Shanghai Sharks were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St.) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. His fellow American import power forward Elijah Holman (208-89, college: Detroit Mercy) accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Zhejiang Guangsha Lions players scored in double figures. American forward Michael Beasley (208-89, college: Kansas St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and the former international center ZhaoXu Zhang (221-87, college: California) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Shanghai Sharks in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will play against Beijing Ducks at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shanghai Sharks will play against Xinjiang Flying Tigers in Urumqi and look forward to get finally their first victory.
