Regular Season Round 3: TianJin S. - Sichuan BW 115-108

Very expected game in Tianjin where Sichuan BW (0-3) was defeated by TianJin Steel (2-1) 115-108. The hosts were already 19 points ahead at halftime and as many as 23 after three quarters before a 36-20 last quarter charge of Sichuan BW cut the lead to 115-108 at the end of the game. TianJin Steel made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Sichuan BW was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Quincy Douby (190-84, college: Rutgers) who led the winners and scored 54 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Lei Xu (207-88) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Nigerian-American guard Michael Efevberha (193-84, college: CS Northridge) came up with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and American forward Metta World Peace (201-79, college: St.John's) added 21 points respectively for Sichuan BW in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. TianJin Steel will play against Chongqing FD in Guangzhou in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sichuan BW will have a break next round.
