Regular Season Round 14: Huracanes - Gigantes 94-90
Date: November 8, 2014
Very expected game when 10th ranked Gigantes (5-9) lost to fifth ranked Huracanes (8-4) in Tampico 90-94. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were already 15 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 34-23 Gigantes' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 94-90 at the end of the game. Strangely Gigantes outrebounded Huracanes 50-26 including a 24-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-American power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice) who scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. American swingman Cliff Tucker (198-89, college: Maryland) chipped in 31 points (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). American forward Anthony Johnson (201-89, college: Azusa Pacific, agency: Elite Talent Exchange) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Sean Carter (205-88, college: Massachusetts) added 25 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gigantes' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Huracanes went down to sixth position due to points difference. Gigantes at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with nine games lost. Huracanes' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Gansos (#14) in Ciudad de Mexico and are hoping to win another game.
