Rather predictable result when third ranked Dragonflies (5-3) rolled over bottom-ranked Kumamoto V. (0-8) in Hiroshima 80-46 on Saturday. The game without a history. Dragonflies led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Dragonflies outrebounded Kumamoto V. 47-27 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dragonflies made 9 blocks. It was a good game for American swingman Omar Reed (200-87, college: Bluefield) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Dragonflies players scored in double figures. American swingman Garlon Green (201-91, college: TCU) answered with 13 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Xin Aoshima (200-83) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Kumamoto V.Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Dragonflies moved-up to second place, which they share with Mitsubishi DD and Toshiba BT. Kumamoto V. lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. Dragonflies will face Tsukuba R. (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Kumamoto V. will play against Mitsubishi Dolphins and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
