Regular Season Round 9: Hyogo S. - Aishin SH 64-81

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Hyogo S. (3-7) lost at home to leader Aishin Sea Horses (8-0) 81-64 on Saturday. Strangely Hyogo S. outrebounded Aishin Sea Horses 34-21 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. The former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Aishin Sea Horses' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and the other American import swingman William Knight (196-79, college: UCLA) added 18 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Hyogo S.The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Aishin Sea Horses. They maintain first place with 8-0 record. Loser Hyogo S. dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Wakayama T. (#5) at home in the next round.
