Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Tsukuba R. (0-10) lost at home to first ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (9-1) 80-64 on Saturday. The game without a history. Hitachi Sunrockers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and power forward Justin Reynolds (206-88, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Tsukuba R.Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Hitachi Sunrockers. They maintain first place with 9-1 record. Tsukuba R. lost their tenth game in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tsukuba R. will play on the road against the league's second-placed Dragonflies in Hiroshima and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
