Important game to mention about took place in Thessaloniki. Leader Aris (4-0) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th placed Nea Kifisia (3-2) 83-80 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Nea Kifisia. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But Nea Kifisia won third quarter 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cypriot-Bulgarian Aleksandar Vezenkov (206-95, college: Xavier) stepped up and scored 16 points for the winners and American center Andrew Naymick (209-85, agency: Warren Sports International) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Serbian guard Nikola Pesakovic (193-91) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian Uros Duvnjak (190-86, agency: Beo Basket) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Aris. They maintain second place with 4-0 record behind leader Panathinaikos, which they share with PAOK. Nea Kifisia at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with AGOR. Aris will play against Koroivos (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nea Kifisia will play against Kolossos (#10) in Rodou and hopes to get back on the winning track.
