An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Rijeka. Second ranked Kvarner faced 4th ranked GKK Sibenik. Host Kvarner (4-1) defeated guests from Sibenik (3-3) 99-85. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of GKK Sibenik. It looked good early as GKK Sibenik took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kvarner had a 35-18 second period charge getting the lead and GKK Sibenik was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-99. Kvarner made 21-of-23 charity shots (91.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for forward Dino Cinac (201-88, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Mauro Veljacic (183-93) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Kvarner players scored in double figures. Forward Ivan Blace (201-84) replied with 21 points and 9 rebounds and guard Teo Petani (190-88, agency: XL Basketball Agency) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for GKK Sibenik. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kvarner maintains second position with 4-1 record behind leader Alkar Sinj. GKK Sibenik at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Kvarner will play against KK Zagreb (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. GKK Sibenik will play against Slavonski Brod and hopes to get back on the winning track.
