Regular Season Round 6: Gipuzkoa - Andorra 67-64

Gipuzkoa can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they edged much higher ranked Andorra (2-4) 67-64. It looked good early as Andorra took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gipuzkoa had a 21-12 second period charge getting the lead and Andorra was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-67. American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) notched 20 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and center David Doblas (206-81) supported him with 13 points and 8 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Even 6 points and 12 rebounds by Bulgarian power forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86) did not help to save the game for Andorra. Swingman David Navarro (192-83) added 13 points. Four Andorra players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Gipuzkoa (1-5) left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Andorra at the other side keeps the eleventh position with four games lost. Gipuzkoa's next round opponent will be higher ranked Laboral Kutxa (#14) in Vitoria and it may be quite challenging game.
