Regular Season Round 6: Lattes Montp. - Villeneuve 62-83

The most important game in the last round took place in Lattes between third ranked Lattes Montpellier (3-2) and fourth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (4-2) on Saturday night. Lattes Montpellier was crushed by Villeneuve D'Ascq at home 83-62. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-62. Villeneuve D'Ascq dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Lattes Montpellier's 38. Villeneuve D'Ascq forced 21 Lattes Montpellier turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Belgian center Ann Wauters (194-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Fatimatou Sacko (177-85, agency: Comsport) chipped in 14 points during the contest. Four Villeneuve D'Ascq players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Mistie Bass (191-83, college: Duke) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and international forward Valerianne Ayayi (185-94, agency: Comsport) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Villeneuve D'Ascq have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Flammes Carolo and Arras. Defending champion Lattes Montpellier dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq is looking forward to face Arras (#4) at home in the next round. Lattes Montpellier will play against Toulouse and is hoping to win this game.
